CThe Far-Eastern State Medical University was founded in 1930. At present the university is headed by the Acting Rector, K.V. Zhmerenetsky, M.D., Ph.D. Education is conducted according to the licence and State accreditation in the following specialities: general medicine, pediatrics, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing. Theoretical studies are carried out in 3 educational buildings of the University. Students from all regions of the Far East are taught by 427 tutors, among which 2 corresponding members of Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, 9 Honorary doctors, 64 Doctors of medicine, 259 tutors with academic degree are. The education is based on the educational programs of medical specialities according to the requires of State medical standard. he Far-Eastern State Medical Library, which contains 610 744 copies, including 222 217 ones of scientific literature and 24 069 ones of foreign literature, is in the University.
